Sóller is a wonderful town located on the northwest coast of Majorca. Among the Tramuntana mountains we can find this small region. It is known for its incredible orange orchards, but also for being one of the most beautfiul towns in Majorca.

Sóller has a unique atmosphere. Just sitting in the main square having a drink is the perfect plan. Alfabia Gardens

An incredible Majorcan manor house together with a beautiful garden and land, create Alfabia. A place that will surprise you, both inside and out. The Alfabia gardens can be found in the Tramuntana mountains.

The Alfabia house dates back to the Arabs in Mallorca. It is gothic in style with Arabic, baroque renaissance and romanticist touches. Once you enter, you can find a Majorcan patio which is very common in this type of Majorcan architecture. The interior of the house is very well maintained. There are different rooms telling you all about Majorcan history.

The Alfabia gardens have different areas. All of them displaying a variety of trees, plants & flowers. One part of the garden has a tropical feeling. But alongside that you will also discover the typical plants native to Majorca, such as ‘’garballons’’, a protected species. Additionally, you can’t miss out on the pergola with the Alfabia water features. Reconstructed at the beginning of the 18th century they are one of the best attractions of the Alfabia gardens.

Tramuntana Mountains

The Tramuntana mountains are a unique place, and because of that were named a UNESCO natural heritage site in 2011. Here we can find Majorca’s highest mountains and undeniably some of the most magical places on the island.

Soller and its surroundings are found in the heart of the Tramuntana Mountains and for this they are so special. Doing trips throughout the Tramuntana mountains, discovering places like Gorg Blau or the Lluc monastery, is a good way of getting to know Majorca. In addition, thanks to the good weather in Majorca, it is possible to do trips in the Tramuntana mountains all year round.

Another secret of the Tramuntana mountains is the coves that you can find along the coast. Coves surrounded by cliffs. The most beautiful coves in Majorca are found in this part of the island. Cala Tuent or Cala Deià are the most well-known. But there are some that are even more hidden, such as Muleta.

Sóller Port 

Next to Soller towards the coast we can find the Port of Soller.  It is a natural port located within the Soller region.  There is a lovely promenade with plenty of bars and restaurants, ideal for trying out typical Majorcan cuisine.

One of the most original and traditional ways of getting to the Port of Soller is on the Soller train.  A wooden train which has connected the centre of Palma to the Port of Soller since 1912.  It departs from Plaza España in Palma and stops at Son Sardina, Alfabia, Soller and the Port of Soller.

Walking around the Port of Soller you will find places like the Soller beach, a port full of boats and also museums, such as the Majorcan Maritime Museum.  A place you must visit in the Port of Soller is the Cap Gros lighthouse.  A viewpoint with panoramic views of Soller’s Port.

Fornalutx 

Fornalutx is a small village bordering Soller.  Its narrow and magical stone streets make it a must-see for many visitors to Majorca.  So, make sure you visit Fornalutx during your holiday in Majorca.

At the foot of Puig Major, the highest peak in Majorca, we find what many say is the prettiest village in Mallorca.  As you wander around the streets of Fornalutx you will find unique spots like Fornalutx’s Plaza España or the church of Fornalutx.  As soon as you step foot inside the village you will start discovering the charm of this wonderful village in the Tramuntana Mountains.
